ASTANA. July 16. KAZINFORM The implementation of "Smart Astana" concept includes five innovative projects which are aimed at social and economic development of the city in the sphere of healthcare, education and organization of high-tech productions, according to PM.kz.

One of these projects is "Wi-Fi" project aimed at provision of wireless access to the Internet to the residents and guests of the capital in accordance with Wi-Fi technologies. Currently, the number of network users topped 10 thousand, free of charge Wi-Fi covers almost all social facilities of the city.

Another important project is "E-ambulance" which provides for equipment of ambulance cars with tablet PCs with IP-telephony, GPS and medical reference books. Presently, all specialized crews have already been equipped with tablet PCs. The number of calls and hospitalization cases has increased significantly since the launch of the project.

The other project is "School of future - today" which will help to improve the system of security in schools. School students will be given electronic IDs containing the information about the student and parents can always check where their child is thanks to this ID card. Besides, schools will be provided the access to the Internet with blocked dangerous sites. Moreover, the social network for school students will be introduced. Now, the project is tested in a pilot mode in school No. 54 and it will be launched in 10 more schools soon.

Besides, the Center of 3D Technologies was opened on the basis of "Smart Astana". The Center is equipped with modern equipment allowing to model utilities network, architectural constructions and industrial facilities in 3D format. Currently, the Center is engaged in modeling of utilities network of the capital.

The fifth project is creation of high-tech machine-building center and a basis for development of machine-tool industry in Astana.  Engineering and technical personnel will learn the techniques for using this modern equipment. Presently, the memorandum on mutual cooperation between "Astana Innovations" JSC, "Social Entrepreneurial Corporation "Astana" JSC and the Association of Machine Tool Builders of Czech Republic on establishment of joint enterprise "Kazakh-Czech Technology Center" was signed.

"Astana Innovations" JSC is responsible for development of these innovative projects. "Smart Astana" project is based on the model of development of European "smart" cities which is, in its turn, is based on the combination of 6 components: smart economy, smart governance, smart environment, smart living, smart people and smart mobility.
