MINSK. June 26. KAZINFORM Today the Court of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC) will try its first case, Kazinform refers to BelTA.
The EurAsEC Court will look into the case brought by the Southern Kuzbass coal-mining company. The company disputes some parts of the decisions made by the Customs Union Commission.
The EurAsEC Court started working in Minsk on 1 January 2012. The first bench of judges was formed at the 13th extraordinary session of the EurAsEC Inter-Parliamentary Assembly that was held in Saint Petersburg on 23 December 2011. During the session eight members of the EurAsEC Court were appointed, two from each participating state.
The EurAsEC Court is authorized to settle economic disputes arising from the formation of the Customs Union. The Court considers claims brought by governments, EurAsEC and Customs Union bodies, and economic operators of the Customs Union. One of the objectives of the Court is to contribute to efficient development of the EurAsEC, assist national courts in examining arising disputes. The Court rulings are binding.
