ASTANA. May 23. KAZINFORM "It is impossible to abandon nuclear power in the global scale," President of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences Oleg Kuznetsov said during the 5^th Astana Economic Forum.

"In the future there will not be enough other sources to ensure energy sufficiency," O. Kuznetsov told.

However, the Russian scientist said that in any case there should be no nuclear euphoria.

"Very often representatives of the definite nuclear blocks say nuclear energy is safe and nuclear power stations may be constructed everywhere. I strongly disagree that," O.  Kuznetsov noted.

According to him, when choosing the place where to build nuclear power plants, it is necessary primarily to take into account the geological conditions to maximally minimize the danger level.

"The Japanese nuclear station lesson shows how unwise the station was built in geographical terms," the Russian scientist concluded.
